Airplay support on IMA SDK beta 12

Hi,

We use the IMA SDK beta 12 in our own video framework.

We added Airplay support and Chromecast as well.

However we are facing several issues with Airplay support when we start streams with Pre-roll enabled using IMA sdk.

We tried the two following scenarios and it fails playing on both:

1- Using Airplay for all:

• Select Airplay on Apple TV from quick preferences panel when you swipe from the bottom of the screen
  
• Run the app, and start a stream with a preroll
  
• the preroll loads and display the first frame on AppleTv connected screen but pause
  
• the adsManager in the application get an error type 2/ code 402, timeout
  
• playback of preroll failed
  
• content starts to play
  

2- Using Airplay from the app:

• Run the app, and start a stream with a preroll, enabled Airplay in the app and route it to AppleTV
  
• ... same results as (1)

Do you still do not support Airplay in IMA sdk for iOS?

What should be the best option then? Disable Airplay for any ad on Google IMA?

Ok if the user select it within the app, but if it is done from the system, that may be more challenging.

Hi Frederic,

You're correct that we still do not support AirPlay in the iOS SDK. Our recommendation is to not enable AirPlay when you're using IMA to play ads. We are investigating support and hope to offer it soon.

If you're using ad rules responses, what you may be able to do is use manual ad break playback in your app, which will fire an event when an ad is ready to play. You can then elect to only play the ad if the video is *not* being AirPlayed.
