Dear IM members

 

I would like to strongly recommend 15.493 - PoF: Perspectives on Investment Management to you! It is a great class for students interested in investments or how to analyze companies. It is an H2 class, meeting every Wednesday afternoon (4PM-7PM)

 

If you are hesitant because of the class pre-requisite, please do not worry. It is just recommended but not required. Please do no miss the course because of the pre-requisite limitations! Last semester, we could not host all the students due to the class capacity, please enroll the class as soon as possible. 

 

The speakers are great! It is a lecture-based class. The course will invite a lot of guest speakers including CEOs, founders, fund managers, buy side analysts, sell side analysts. They will provide exciting discussions covering fundamental analysis, fixed income analysis, quantitative analysis, as well as venture capital investment analysis. They will also lead you step by step to analyze different companies.

 

The professor is great! The professor is Jeffery Shames, retired chief executive officer and chairman of MFS Investment Management and of the boards of trustees of the MFS Funds. He is also a senior advisor to Morgan Stanley. He will bring super insightful talks on overall investment management industry, different sectors (mutual fund, hedge fund, PE, VC, etc), the history and the trend. I believe you will benefit from his class!

 

The assignment is reasonable! The assignment will be two company analysis reports. You will have the chance to analyze companies on your own!
