Hi all-- We'd like to circulate the email draft below to coalition partners tomorrow, asking that they send on either Monday or Tuesday to their lists to help generate constituent contact.

Let me know if there are any edits/questions. Thanks!

<<NAME>>,

We stand with ALL Illinois families. That’s why we support the freedom to marry for loving, committed same-sex couples in our state.

That’s why we’re proud to support Illinois Unites for Marriage, and we’re asking you to join us in standing all the couples in our state who are currently denied the freedom to marry the person they love.

If you support the freedom to marry, the most important thing you can is contact your legislators and let them know that you think it’s time for marriage equality.

Click here to email your legislator and urge them to pass the marriage bill in the fall veto session.

Fall veto session starts on Tuesday and will be over just three weeks later. This is the best, and possibly the only chance to pass marriage in Illinois this year. And now is the time to stand up and take action.

At <<Organization Name>> we know that same-sex couples want to marry for the same reasons as any other couples - to protect their families and enter into a lifelong commitment.

We also know that with the repeal of DOMA, civil unions are leaving Illinois couples and families woefully unprotected and stuck in a second class status; something no Illinoisan should have to face.

Please, join us today in standing up for ALL families in our state. Contact your legislators and tell that you support the freedom to marry.

Click here to email your legislators right now. It’s easy and important.

We’re proud to stand with Illinois Unites for Marriage in this effort, and prouder still to stand up for every loving couple in our great state.

We hope all of our members will join us and take action today.

Thank you,

<<signer>>

P.S. With just a few weeks left to pass marriage in Illinois, it’s critical that you contact your legislators today. Click here to email them now. Thank you!

I think that this is good.  I actually wrote one for us today, that (in our style) is much shorter.

We should ask Bernard to be the signatory on this one I think.

With one change, Bernard says it's fine to use his name on this letter, as long as it's pure action and no money ask.
The change in the 5th paragraph that he asks, take out "possibly the only" so it reads:
"This is the best chance to pass marriage in Illinois this year. And now is the time to stand up and take action."

There are also some missing words (in CAPS):
In the 2nd paragraph: "standing UP FOR all the couples"

In the 3rd paragraph: "you can DO is"

In the 8th paragraph: "tell THEM that"

Thanks all.

Mitch

Mitch:

We should make those changes, but I realize we are asking all our partners to send this to their own networks instead of us sending it to our list.

I.e. each group signs own name? That's fine. No problem.
