I am using Acer Aspire 6930 Laptop with Ubuntu 10.04 and Fedora 13 KDE.Lap have a winbond CIR device.
In Ubuntu 10.04, installed LIRC but not detecting the device. same in Fedora 13. I tested with HP laptop's remote control.
The same is working in windows platform.
I hardly need that working for my seminar presentation in college.
Can any one help me on this ?

Assembling a new device is better.

It only takes 15 minutes and cost less than INR 50.

in case you have difficulty in finding the IR receiver locally, it can
be ordered on http://in.farnell.com
Search for "infrared receiver". Vishay TSOP 1138 is listed, which
works at 38kHz.
Farnell has a base in India and usually deliver within a week.

If you want, I can build one for you and send it via post.

You have to pay courier charges, charges for components and my service charge.

If you want, mail me personally.
