Hai,

    I am using Aircel GPRS connection for connecting to Internet. But the connection disconnects automatically after random amount of time ( Hours ). It creates disturbances when I am downloading, and I will be possibly away. I like to reconnect it automaticaly. How can I do?

I am using Linux Mint 8 (Helena) with Network Manager (Version 0.7.996) to connect.

One possible way is to connect using wvdial.
i connect using wvdial aircel gprs and bluetooth.Following is my wvdial.conf (/etc/wvdial.conf)

[MyPhone]
Modem = /dev/rfcomm1
SetVolume = 0
Dial Command = ATDT
Init1 = ATZ
Init3 = ATM0
FlowControl = crtscts

[Dialer aircelgprs]
Username = " "
Password = " "
Phone = *99***1#
Stupid Mode = 1
Inherits = MyPhone

This Auto reconnects upon disconnection.Please note for the above wvdial.conf the dialing command would be sudo wvdial aircelgprs

I can't connect. The phone shows no response when connecting.
I have tried Both numbers *99# and *99***1#
No response. I am Pasting my config file and terminal output.

Password = " "
Phone = *99#

Stupid Mode = 1

I also have found a strange problem. Whenever, I switch on the tube light, the connection automatically disconnects. Then I have to reconnect.

Also the speed is slower when tube light is on.

I think EMI causes this.

yes. I have connected. But the problem was, whenever the light is
turned on, the device name changes. So, i have written a shell script
to check each device and connect.

How about mobile cooling solutions? I have currently written script
such that if all device fails to connect, it shuts down computer.

I think, i can use a small usb fan for the purpose.

The devices get detached and then automatically reattached to another
/dev ?Is this the condition?Just curios to see your script.

In case you are using bluetooth i think you wont have problem while re
attachment.

I have found the real problem. After long hours, the mobile heats up. That was the reason for disconnection. It will be ok when i have cooled mobile by blowing and switching of for a while. Otherwise, however i try, it will disconnect. I think my mobile requires better cooling. I am looking for a heat sink or fan like solution, so that my mobile remains cool. :) any suggestions?

hai all,

I don't know what is your exact problem. But I did saw your wvdial.conf. I once had an N73 and I did connect it to the internet. But my seems different from yours. I don't know much. I didn't have any problem then. I used to download about 500MB per day and It never disconnected unless some call interruption. You may check this out.

here are my commands and confs

lsusb

from this you will get vendor code and product code. Paste it to next command after 0x

sudo /sbin/modprobe usbserial vendor=0x(vid) product=0x(pid)

wvdialconf create

sudo gedit /etc/wvdial.conf

paste these configs.

[Dialer Defaults]
Modem = /dev/ttyACM0
Baud = 460800
Init1 = ATZ
Init2 = ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0
Init3 = AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","internet","",0,0
ISDN = 0
Modem Type = Analog Modem
Phone = *99#
Username = a
Password = b
Stupid Mode = 1

change that internet to the APN for your provider. For aircel, it's aircelgprs. check your mobile settings.

Thanks

Renju Paul

Zyxware at Kesavadasapuram. I took three systems for me and my friends.and a lot of accessories and distros. My friends are happy their data is safe from VBscripts. I am happy i am also learning how to use linux. Hardwares are tested for Linux software compatibility Great service . disturb them :) at 9446069446 .other numbers could be found at zyxware.com. Some among the team are very active in ilug and fsug tvm since its inception. but never saw a word about the company. Maybe its the policy to keep silence about the services?

Please start a new thread, if you want to say a new topic. You can do
that by sending e.mail to ilug...@googlegroups.com with a suitable
subject.

Also, about ZYXware, thier team is active at forum. Most of the
members know about them. They can't spam the forum with thier mails!

I am amazed the message was understood as a "new topic".I found somebody enquiring for linux compatible hardware, I posted one among the most reliable sources i found. this would remain in the internet relevent for years as a reference material for all the people in the similiar situation. I am not part of Zyxware. I am sorry I could not post a model number as I am not good in it.

 i don think tht would be spam.and I dont think somebody would be aware of such institutes if we dont address it.I knew nothing of zyxware two years back. and am still not aware of other institutes except SPACE. I donno they are providing professional service ..

I am not part of zyxware, but i do subscribe to part of their pholosophy. i like their business ethics. I feel like I am living in a really evolving world. and I am not aware of other institutes providing professional services in linux. may be only if somebody dare to say...

Sorry. I could not understand the topic when i have replied. I think
that you have replied about linux compatible bluetooth dongle.

I don't know whether ZYXware has bluetooth dongle available for sale.
Anyway, i will enquire about that, to them.

Also, please add necessary quotes for reply, so that the person
reading the mail could understand better.

Yes. I think most of the bluetooth adapters work on linux. I have one USB dongle device once. It worked perfectly for data transfer and also just fine for internet. Now I have an inbuilt bluetooth on my laptop and it working fine.

I have bought a Bluetooth dongle.

It perfectly work with GNU / Linux.

I have connected Internet using bluetooth, with wvdial after a bit of searching.

But, after sometime, power went off. When I have turned on the computer after that, It simply refuses the connection.

I tried a lot. Please help me.

I am getting the following output.

--> WvDial: Internet dialer version 1.60
--> Cannot open /dev/rfcomm0: Connection refused
--> Cannot open /dev/rfcomm0: Connection refused
--> Cannot open /dev/rfcomm0: Connection refused

I have paired the phone with computer.

Problem solved. I have paired my phone with computer from the bluetooth preferences.

I had earlier done pairing by searching on the phone and giving pin.

I have found a solution. I have remove the back cover of the phone and put 3-4 drops of pure water on the surface of the battery.

Since the specific heat of vaporisation of water is very high, it will take much time to vaporise and will prevent the heating up of the phone.

However, I have to continue supply of water drops every 1-2 hours.

Eureka.. Water cooling solution.
