Ubuntu 9.10 freeze problem

Dear Friends,
I got a serious problem after the installation of Ubuntu 9.10.
After the successful installation and restart, the system seems freeze.
Not able to open start up menu.

I tried the installation in 3 systems, I got the same problem.
Anybody got the same problem with Ubuntu 9.10?

Check the disk against the md5 hash. If the same problem occured on three different systems, it would be the problem with the installation disk...

I don't think its the problem with CD. 

Same problem happened with 2 of my friends' system.

They first used my own disk (worked perfectly for me & 5 others) and then their disks, the problem occurred in both cases. Well one of them fixed it with bit of cleaning the RAM. For the other the problem is still there.

I don't think the disk got corrupted after repeated usage, because the disk worked even on the latest attempt.

Anyway its better to check the CD against md5 checksum as Subin said. Then try cleaning the RAM, it might work.

If you fixed the problem with any other means, please don't forget to post it here.

I think this is due to unsupported chipset. I had this problem earlier
in my home PC which having *via* chipset. It can be installed by
selecting *safe graphics mode* while booting from live cd (press F5
after choosing the language)

Via graphics chipset are known to have problems with Karmic. But the problem I've got on a that system was something differrent. After installation I got nothing but some coloured lines on the screen. I've fixed this with safe graphics mode as in the last post. I have googled at that time and found many similar problems.

Was that smiley supposed to indicate sarcasm? If it's not, then that's a
terrible advice. Brushing might cause static electricity and damage
electronic components. That's why some companies have anti-static
cleaning brushes. Many sites will recommend using compressed air instead
of brushes to clear dust from electronic components.

What we do in our office is to clean the connector pins using a soft
tissue wet with iso-propyl alcohol.

Please dont try to clean the RAM if you are doing it for the first time & you don't know about it.

I cannot assure you that cleaning RAM will help in all the cases,...just save it for last.
