Do you have any graphics card?
If yes then install the driver for the video card using hardware drivers.

Please specify your graphics card type (inbuilt or separate)

Note that these so called visual effects does not work on all machines.
Either you need a new machine with good inbuilt graphics support, or a graphics card.

AMD may be using ATI graphics cards.

Hii
Nibin  it is your motherboard causing problems either you can upgrade to asus motherboard with nvidia graphics or use the current board with openchrome driver which does not support all graphics options. I was facing the same problem since i changed to linux  but now adjusted with the problems.  ( Recently saw some post on Via site saying they are providing drivers for linux machines tried it but was unable to compile it for my system)

Hi guys, From the lspci output its almost clear you have via chipset for your grphics adapter, and is a compatible one. So you need to check if compiz is supported by your hardware. Do some googling about your graphics adapter about the problems you are facing with Jaunty. I've attached a script with this mail and you can check your compiz compatibility with that script. Make it executable using the command : chmod +x compiz-check from the directory in which you have the sciprt and execute it as ./compiz-check . Where compiz-check is the name of the script file. And paste the output of the scipt here in this forum... Hope you can configure compiz... :)

Regards to all...
