hi,

I am using debian lenny(i think a testing back in dec) right now.

My network manager it self is able to handle pppoe(i installed pppoe related libraries).

It is good enough i think.

If you exactly tell us, what is the requirement for a gui, i think we will be able to help better.

regards

I'm using Ubuntu 9.04 jaunty.  I'm now connecting to internet via terminal by 'pon dsl-provider' command and I dont have any problem with that.

I actually asked this question for my friends who are new to linux. and they dont like to type in commands.
I'm trying to attract more of my friends towards linux.
They might turn their backs if they mess up with the commands in the begining itself.

Also I would be grateful if you please tell me how to connect to net with other methods like 'dialup', 'always on broadband (Asianet) connection' like that. (maybe I should ask this in separate post)

I think gnome ppp is for dialup connections.

hi,

first of all i dont use ubuntu so, i dont know how to do it in ubuntu.

In my debian NM, it allowed me to select the connection type(serial/pppoe/gprs). I assumed it came from a plugin(i am not sure).

I dont know how it works in ubuntu.

cheers

You can simply make an application launcher and add it to the panel.

You have to enable "run in terminal" or set the type as "Application in
terminal"
