But scribus cant handle the pmd files. The desktop publishers edits the documents created by us as a final touch up before publishing it. They still uses pmd format for this purpose. When I tried to use pagemaker using wine, its working fine. But when i tried to type malayalam by changing the keyboard layout, only some question marks (?) are coming.
So I tried to install some malayalam ascii fonts. But all are in .pfm/.pfb format, which cant be recognised by our OS.
Can u pls tell me some ttf malayalam fonts....On Tue, Jul 7, 2009 at 10:09 AM, JAGANADH G <jaga...@gmail.com> wrote:
Scribus is an Open Source Application equvialnt to Pagemaker. Does not have Unicode suport. I think one can use web fonts or ascii fonts in that. I never tried that
Some commerical packages are available for Unicode Support in Page Maker too (Sorry for the Non Free Software Info)

Hiii all
May be this is not an open source issue but as an open source activist i'm facing this now and then. Some of my friends uses windows for Adobe pagemaker exclusively even though I was able to run Adobe pagemaker in wine i'm unable to get malayalam typing ok in it is there any open source software saves files in Adobe PMD format the charecters must be in mono font not unicode the real issue is the publishing presses have Adobe page maker only. It will be greatfull if someone helps me to find a solution
