How to I disable the Insert key?

Hello,

How do I disable the Insert key globally? ( I'm on XFCE / Xubuntu 14.04)
The backspace key on my keyboard ( TVS Gold ) is very near to the
backspace key and if I hit the insert key by mistake, the "Overwrite"
mode in Emacs and other editors switches on, which breaks the flow while
programming and other tasks.

I know in XFCE there is a way to remap keybindings, but I want it to
work on the terminal as well ( With or without X)

use setkeycodes to change it (and add to rc.local to make it persistent)

showkey will help you find which key you need to modify.
