Hello Everyone,

I've Xubuntu 12.04.1 LTS on my netbook ( Lenovo IdeaPad S110 - a netbook which I've found to punch above it's weight )

I use this machine as my primary machine for Ruby on Rails development.

A couple of questions,
1. Should I go in for a dist-upgrade or should I do a clean install ?
2. Have you used 12.10 and as an end user do you think it's worth the upgrade? I do have my development environment and drivers etc all set up.

Looking forward to your opinions,
Manish Chakravarty

#1. For Ubuntu, if you are upgrading to immediate next version(like from 12.04 to 12.10), you can just run upgrade from 'software center'. If you want to jump one or more versions, you need to do clean install. Otherwise, results will be unpredictable.

#2. I have not used 12.10. I jumped from 12.04 to 13.04(xubuntu) through a clean install. I prefer to hang on LTS version until next LTS gets released. I suggest not to upgrade to 12.10.
