We ( people from the Java world) think in a certain way and Lisp requires a different way of thinking/problem solving.
As a person comfortable with Java/Ruby/C++ is there any tutorial available online that you would recommend. And why?

I am also confused as to which dialect of Lisp to pickup.

Pickup comon lisp or lispworks. For online tutorial look at
http://www.paulgraham.com/lisp.html or read Paul Graham's On Lisp for
starting.
BTW, if you have any special requirements, giving shot to clojure
might be a worth. Clojure runs lisp inside a JVM and can reuse java
libraries.

You could also follow the MIT lectures on lisp[1] which are part of
the MIT open courseware

You could try (uses Scheme):

Matthias Felleisen, Robert Bruce Findler, Matthew Flatt, and Shriram
Krishnamurthi. 2001. How To Design Programs - An Introduction to
Programming and Computing. Prentice-Hall.
