HANDS ACROSS NATIONS ANNUAL BENEFIT FOR UGANDA COMING SEPTEMBER 12TH
There is a saying that you can tell whether a man is rich or poor not by what his income is, but how much he gives. Our wonderful town, Chewelah, has been rated in a national report as the "poorest town in the state of Washington". But if you look around, we who live here know that rating is absolutely not true. We know it is a wealthy town because of its people who give of their time and treasures for all sorts of causes. We give to local causes and local people, and we also give to causes and people we've never actually seen or touched halfway around the world. And those people know we are wealthy!
On September 12, 2015, we all have the opportunity once again, to affect a culture, worlds apart from our own, in N. Uganda. Chewelah has been the backbone of giving for projects through Hands Across Nations, a local 501C3 charity since 2004. HAN has been working with the Lango Tribe who are only 8 years beyond a war that raged for over 2 decades. It destroyed much of the culture and the infrastructure of the whole region.

That night, you will have the opportunity to taste some Lango food, along with Mexican and good old American food with scrumptious dessert choices at the Feast of Nations Dinner held at the Chewelah Civic Center, starting at 5:30 pm. Doors open at 5:00 pm. Following the dinner, a short video will entertain you with the stories of the real people of the Lango Tribe that Chewelah has already affected by giving of your treasures in the past year, the astounding progress being made, and what the future holds. Silent auction items will be available for bids from the time doors open until after the presentation.

Debbie Barbee who was in Uganda with HAN for 6 months this year, is helping raise funds for HAN by selling tickets for a new, handmade quilt, pieced together by Carolyn Jones, beautifully quilted by Nan Farrell of Greenacres WA. Tickets will also be available at the dinner and at Akers Drug, with the drawing for the winner December 12, 2015.

Then, the real entertainment begins with the live auction directed by our own local super-duper auctioneer Kerry Burkey. Don't miss it! If you're going to "Music on the Mountain", there's time to come on in for dinner and enjoy the "show" and make a huge difference for the Lango Tribe. Doors open at 5 pm, dinner at 5:30pm. It's only $15 for adults and $7 for children if you buy tickets ahead at Akers Drug Store, or $17 at the door. Call Carolyn Jones at 509-979-7448 for more information.
Thank you to all of you who have supported us for this event in the past. We know that there are many needs in our community, county, and country and yet you have continued to be with us in helping "the least of these" in N. Uganda.
Looking forward to seeing you there.
Sharing the love of Christ in practical ways
