Hi Bobby, 

I just saw this email. 

There seems to have been miscommunications. As mentioned over the phone we are extremely busy with organizing the gala and no one has had the time to discuss the merger issue at this point. 

When we met with your father, the discussions were surrounding the two organizations organizing a gala together. Unfortunately due to your schedule that didn't happen.

As per our telephone conversation today, it's best if we set up that meeting right after our gala. I will raise this at the meeting tonight. 

Please accept my apologies if it looked like some of our chair members are not in favour of the merger. They are simply undecided as we have not had the time to discuss this issue due to the gala. I hope you understand. 

Also, a quick reminder that like yourself, I have also been supportive of ICLA's initiatives and have attended your events, and will continue to attend. I don't want to pressure you to attend the upcoming gala though. 

I will report to you after tonight's meeting.

To be perfectly honest with you, I am undecided about whether I should attend the gala. I was hoping that your chair members would have shown a little more support for ICLA this past year. I have made considerable effort to support ILPO by attending various events and I have always encouraged our board to attend ILPO events and we have.

 

I was hoping we could meet with your committee chair members sooner rather than later, but unfortunately you neglected to respond to our request for a meeting last Friday. I only heard from you after I made contact with you. I would have expected for your chair members to respond with an alternative date if the date that we proposed did not work for you. At this point, ICLA has tried to setup a meeting twice now and each time it appears that ILPO withdraws.

 

I know you and I have been working hard to make this merger happen, but I’m not sure if your chair members are on board. I was also a little concerned when you mentioned whether we should put merger as a topic to discuss at the meeting. The whole purpose of the meeting was to discuss merger, but it doesn’t seem like you have the support of your committee chairs.

 

At this point, I think it makes more sense if you prepare a proposal for ICLA, since it was ILPO that approached ICLA with the view to merge last year. In addition, it was your proposal when we met with my father at Moto a few months ago to have a new organisation comprised of 5 committee chair members from ILPO plus 5 members from ICLA and possibly one member from Cilac. Your suggestion to have 10 or 11 board members without any titles seems like the right approach, I’m just not sure if your chair members are on board. Perhaps it makes sense for you to canvass your proposal with them and get back to me.

 

I know you have a lot going with your gala, but we also need to move forward with our AGM.
