Agreed.

The last point on their draft may be problematic, was it agreed that the mandate of the new organization would include an advocacy role on behalf of the community?

No. We discussed the issues that could arise if such a mandate is not exercised with caution and we agreed that ICLP should take on an educational role on issues affecting the Iranian-Canadian community. That is why i included the "public awareness" language in describing that point.

Thanks Behrouz, I agree with your revision in that regard, and I think raising "public awareness" better describes what the mandate should be as apposed to advocacy, at this time anyhow. Advocacy would be great, but I just don't think we're ready for that as an organization just yet.

With regards to providing "a forum for discussion" what did you mean by that? The monthly meetings?

I noted that our discussion in relation to the monthly meetings open to membership were not contained in the MOU. I have added language to the MOU to that effect. Attached is the revised MOU. I will send this to them for their review.
