I am very happy that University of Bamberg won seven additional professorships for AI in the Bavarian AI competition -- more than any other university in Bavaria. Faculty invites applications for the position of
Full
Professor (m/f/d) W3 salary level of
Explainable Machine Learning
as a tenured civil servant.
The successful candidate shall represent the field of explainability with a focus on statistical and neuronal approaches to machine learning in research and teaching. The applicant should have documented research experience in one or more of the following research areas: visualization methods, sensitivity analyses, methods of knowledge extraction, combination of black box approaches and interpretable methods of machine learning, example-based explanations. Applications in computational humanities (e.g., digital heritage) or image-based diagnostics (in medicine or quality control) are desirable.The holder of the post is expected to contribute to the Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes of the faculty. In addition, the successful candidate is also expected to take on duties in the area of academic self-government and to support the faculty’s international cooperation and exchange programmes.The relevant qualifications consist of a completed academic degree, pedagogical aptitude, a particular talent for academic work generally substantiated by the quality of a doctoral degree, and, in addition to this, further academic achievements. Additional academic credentials must be certified by a habilitation or equivalent academic qualification which may also have been obtained through activities outside of higher education or within the scope of an assistant professorship.
