Unite as One campaign

I am sure most of us support the 'Unite as One' campaign launched by
four civil society organisations in Cape Town -- the Black Sash,
Passop, the Scalabrini Centre and the Sonke Gender Justice Network.
Its central thrust is to assert our common humanity and oppose
xenophobia and racism.

The aim is to collect a million signed pledges against xenophobia,
intolerance, intimidation and violence. The campaign was launched in
Du Noon, Cape Town –a centre of xenophobic violence in 2008. The four
organisations called on leaders in government, business and civil
society as well as individual South Africans to intensify their
efforts to build a country in which people respect each other and live
together peacefully.

How can I get involved?

* Use your personal networks,existing projects,community
organisations, etc. to gather support for the campaign!
* Postcards and petition forms with a common pledge for unity will
be distributed as widely as possible through public transport,
churches, mosques, libraries, internet cafes, etc. The postcards have
a space for comments and a call for action. Recipients will be asked
to send the postcards back to the campaign organisers who will put
together an exhibition.
