Some Chinese Learning & Communicating Tools

Dear Folks

 

I am a new Chinese learner and have very little idea about Chinese Language. However I am professionally working as Chinese communicator for my Trading Company. I do it, with some cheating tools.

 

I would like to share those with you:

 

* For Translating:

 

Most of you know that, all the major search engines have their respecting translating software that you can use for free.

 

Here are some of them:

 

Google: http://www.google.com/language_tools?hl=en

Yahoo: http://tools.search.yahoo.com/language/

Yahoo Babelfish: http://babelfish.yahoo.com

Altavista Babelfish: http://babelfish.altavista.com

1-800-Translate: http://www.1-800-translate.com/machine_trans/

Worldlingo: http://www.worldlingo.com/en/products_services/worldlingo_translator.html

 

* For Transliterating & Converting Unicode from Hardcopies (by drawing):

 

I use Wenlin 3.0. You can download the demo version from here: http://www.wenlin.com/demo.htm. You can type Pinyin in the software and get alternative Chinese characters. e.g. If you type "fa" and convert it, you will get alternatives like: 发, 法, 乏, 罚, 伐, 阀, etc. Again, you can draw characters in it and get suggestions for Unicode on the basis of strokes.

 

* For Finding Pronunciation:

 

I used this site: http://www.chinese-tools.com/tools/pinyin.html. Just paste the Chinese characters and click Pinyin. It'll show you the pinyin (in Roman characters) or pronunciation.

 

* For Character Checking:

 

I use this list at : http://www.zein.se/patrick/3000char.html. The List has most common 3000 Chinese Characters in Unicode.
