I bought my Ilo at good ole' Wally-World for a hundred bucks. I guess
I've had it for 4 months or so. I ride a motorcycle to and from work,
and listen to it both ways plus 8 hours of playing janitor at a
Presbyterian Church.
The first one I had didn't receive FM radio, then a couple of days
later... the menu button stopped responding. I took it back and got my
friendly exchange. This one works as advertised!
I'm fairly active, while wearing the device. It's no wonder that the
OEM earbuds crapped out. Actually, I've been through two sets already.
I bought the .95 cent "el-cheapo's" from Wally, but they don't have any
bass response. I got the JVC "gel" buds (model HA-F120).
I run "hard limiting" amplification on my .mp3's, using Cool Edit
Pro. After that I save them as .wma files. I can hear it pretty-good at
70 mph on a bike with no windshield.
The controls are a bit of a dexterity test at 70 mph, but they can be
memorized.
I've used all functions of this rig, and it works really well. I even
like the quality of the voice recorder. I recorded a full sized pipe
organ in concert, and it came out amazingly well.
My daughter has the 1gig player from Radio Shack, but it has issues
with the SD card wanting to fly out of it. I'm about to get her an Ilo.
