Name: Susan Potter
Nicknames: Su, supo
Python Interest: I currently use Python (plus Ruby, Java and C++ -
please forgive me) at work. Typical uses of Python at work include:
* Business-oriented web services (using Twisted mostly)
* Message oriented middleware bridges (usually between Tibco and MQ
Series).
* Financial/quantitative programming using Python's bindings of
QuantLib
* Intranet applications using TurboGears
* Model drive architecture (MDA) toolkit mostly written in Python (and
various templating languages) - basically sucks in XMI/MOF/UML and
spits out C++, Java, Python, Perl, Ruby code from languge templates.
* Data migration scripts
Favorite Python Editor: Varies between emacs, vim and gedit (on Linux)
depending on my mood, but I mostly live in IPython interactive shell.
I am not really a visual person:)
What would I like to get out of the Python User Group?
1. To get more exposure to how others use Python in business, academia
or personal applications.
2. To potentially start, join, grow or help promote interesting open
source projects in Python.
3. To meet new people in C-U (I am relatively new - less than a year).
4. To learn new things.
Please feel free to introduce yourself however you would like to (you
do not need to follow my structure above).
Thanks,
Susan
