This seems a relatively easy and fairly short way to apply for -- and possibly get -- $25,000 for a neighborhood cause.
Kudos to State Farm Insurance for coming up with an interesting funding model that might make it easier for someone with a good idea get funded.

-- Funding. Beyond this grant, it might be of interest to Illinois food-and-farm projects that State Farm is an Illinois corporation, based in Bloomington-Normal. The corporation has funded other food-and-farm projects in Illinois, e.g., Bloomington farmers market.
-- Meeting space, financial planning, classes, etc. in Chicago.
Next Door Cafe
659 W. Diversey (near Clark)
For the last few years, Next Door Cafe has been a project of State Farm to become more local and to meet people where we are. I believe that they offer meeting spaces (small cubicles for one-on-one and large group space) for free. I think the Chicago Next Door Cafe was State Farm's prototype. Not sure if they've opened additional locations.
NOTE: State Farm is a member of ALEC (American Legislative Exchange Council), which advocates for free markets and limited government. Unfortunately, like most of us 21st century Americans, ALEC is confused about (a) money, and (b) democracy. All the more reason to engage State Farm (and other ALEC members) in the food-and-farm justice conversation.
