Hey all,
Elections for officers are coming up (in the next few weeks I don't know when, hopefully someone tells me). Anyways, I want to be your lovely, gruffly, long haired hippy president! Some of you already know me...and some of you don't...my name's Sean! Do I have to give you anymore reason to elect me as president? Probably...so here are my oh so special qualifications to become acting president of the climbing club (wooo).
Qualifications:
-I like to climb
-I have been active and involved in the club since fall semester Freshman year (I will be a senior next year) and I have experienced a variety of club evolutions and different ways of running each position since I have become involved.
-I know how to climb?
-I love hanging out with friends and meeting new people. Honestly, it makes up about 75% of the reasons why climbing is such a special activity for myself. It also happens to be why I am so passionate about showing climbing to newcomers and getting them hooked.
-Next year, as it unfortunately did not happen this year, I will be working to create a grant system for the club to help subsidize members on extended trips they may not have funds for.
-Mark, The Man Vigil endorses me as a candidate for presidency
-I have been climbing for around 3.5 years, and have experienced climbing in areas in Colorado, Utah, California, Tennessee, Arkansas, and other states as well as Colombia, South America
In all seriousness however, I really want to be president of the climbing club next year and carry on the traditions, fun, and love for climbing that my predecessors experienced me to. With the amount of passion I give to climbing and sharing that with others, together with the amount free time I have with my next year (I am a Recreation Major and taking Spring Semester off), I will be able to contribute more to the club even than I have in the past and really look forward to it. With those prospective candidates for other positions next year, I also really am looking forward to working with them if I am elected. I don't know how to write a Intent speech but there's my go at it! I am always posting on the Faceboook group and if anyone has any questions I would love to answer them.
Cheers all,
Sean
