Hi,

First I want to say that I found your website after what I consider to
be an illegal towing and was thrilled to learn that such a valuable
resource was available on the web.

My incident happened yesterday at the corner of Elgin (Westheimer) and
Louisiana in downtown Houston where I parked in a lot that was
unmarked - meaning there was absolutely no signage stating that towing
was enforced. It cost me $200 to remove my truck from the lot they
towed it to!

The name of the towing authority was:

Rountown 1733 Ennis Houston, TX 77003
(713) 228-2539
TDLR: 005035049C

The storage facility was:

Metro Vehicle Storage 1733 Ennis Houston, TX 77003
(713) 523-3338
TDLR VSF Lic No. 0624631WSF

I plan to return to the spot today after work and take pictures of the
curbs and also file a complaint with the licensing authority. I plan
to take them to court and I would appreciate any help or advice you
may have in this incident. Thanks,

Andrew Finger

You without a doubt want to file an online complaint against the
towing company with TDLR for towing with no signs posted.

Thanks Pat, below is the information I provided to the TDLR:

My towning occured at 8:00 pm on 01/07/2009 from a parking lot at the
corner of Milam and Elgin near Downtown Houston.

The driver and towing company are:

Driver's Name: "Pat G"
Metro Vehicle Storage and Rountown Towing Company
1733 Ennis
Houston, TX 77007

Rountown Phone: 713-228-2539
Metro Vehicle Storage Phone: 713-523-3338

The cost of the tow is itemized below:

$143.50 towing fee
$15.00 daily rate
$15.00 storage fees
$20.00 impound fee
$10.00 city fee
$2.89 taxes

My complaint is that I was illegally towed from an un-marked parking
lot that had no red and white towing signs posted (Violation code #
2308.301(A)(B)(ii)). When the towing occured, I walked into a fitness
club across the street (24 hour fitness) to ask if they knew the
towing company that works that particular lot. One of the clerks
claimed that the towing company "removed the posted signs because the
bums would steal them".

After noting her comment, I returned to the lot to find the same
towing company towing another vehicle from the same lot. I approached
the driver and asked him where the towing signs were posted. He
responded "they're on the other side of the building". I immediately
inspected the area and found no such sign at any of the curbcut
entrances or exits (during this time the driver left the lot).

After retrieving my vehicle I returned to the same lot the next day to
take pictures of the lot. When I returned they had posted signs -
leading me to believe this company is engaging in fradulent activity
by periodically posting and removing signs in order to con victims.

I took pictures anyway to document and found that one of the new signs
posted is placed along a one way street (Milam) and is faced in such a
manner that a driver could not see it when entering the curbcut
(Violation code 2308.301(a)(b)).

Note: Upon retrieving my vehicle from the storage facility, I met
another individual who was towed from the same lot and he made the
same claim I did that there were no signs posted on the lot.
Unfortunately I did not get the name and phone number of this
individual.

I will mail photographs, reciepts and further documentation to support
my claim. Thank you.

I'll copy the pictures I took and send them to email address listed on
your webpage (p...@texastowingcompliance.com).

Thanks Pat,

Andrew
