New Liquor Shop at ' Kachra Chowk.'

I understand from Yezad kapadia that the issue of the new liquor shop at 'Kachra Chowk' has been taken up with the concerned authorities. I would be grateful if someone from the group could forward me an update since I have not seen any mails on the subject.

I was in Pune when you called. Am back now.

 

What I had mentioned was that the problem of the land take over at various locations behind G block is being taken up with the authorities concerned..

 

There is a huge monstrosity which has come up behind he newly built milk booth of Mother Dairy at the bend in the Silver Oaks Avenue. Some say it is a school, others a barat ghar. God forbid if it is the latter.!

Glad to hear that you are back and trust that all is well.

 

I have'nt heard from anyone about the liquor vend which seems to be quickly becoming an outdoor 'drinking place' ! Clearly it has all the potential of a traffic hazard not to mention a source of goondaism.

Hello Friends:

This is a major problem in Haryana as they are focussed only on collecting the ducats. Nothing else counts here, I guess except to play the "Ram Dhun" once a year on 2 nd October.

For years I have tried to get the liquor shop and the "adda" of sorts moved away from the MG Rd just a stone's throw from the Nurse's Hostel of the Privat Hospital but failed time and again. (It has been closed at the end of last year because the contractor could not get his "theka" extended).

HUDA and the State wish to "develop" their avenues and road crossings of sorts to become "revenue earners" for them -- regardless of the ethic or any principles involved. I suspect one will have to approach the CM himself since he also happens to be the Minister for Urban Dev in the State. (Or approach Rao Inderjit Singh of Congress who is standing for the parliamentary elections once again this year from this constitutency. He happens to be the Minister of State for Defence at the Centre.)

Wish I could be of more constructive help than that.

Dear Mr. Ashok Jaitly, A number of people have expressed their strong objection as you re. the liquor shop at Kachra Chowk.   However, if we want the shop to be evicted we shall have to proceed in legal manner.  From the location, it does appear that the liquor shop and the monstrosity of the 'kabari shop (?)' next door ( so terribly ugly and filthy) are in the 'Green Belt'. If so, no body can encroach the green belt, not even the President of India!  So the proper approach to solve this problem is to ascertain whether the location of thes offending premises is the green belt. If so, they are illegal encroachments. Their eviction would be much easier by moving HUDA or the Forest Dept. Some one will have to do some legwork to do this. As so many people seem to feel so strongly I am sure this should not be a major exercise beyond the capacity of the people.      With best wishes. Harish Capoor
