Dear Everyone,

I am happy to inform you that since November 1 - the illegal garbage dumping has stopped at Kachra Chowk. The site has now been barricaded with notices from the authorities. Security manpower has also been posted to ensure that no dumping takes place.

The state-of-the-art Waste Management Plant is now ready. The garbage is now being sent there. The plant will go online from November 15, once adequate garbage has been collected to ensure the non-stop functioning of the plant.

Thank you everyone for your support.

I would also like to mention the support of the following individuals without whom the same would not have been possible.

- Mr RK Khullar - Muncipal Commisioner - Gurgaon (earlier Muncipal Commisioner - Faridabad). Mr. Khullar made it possible that the modern plant comes up in record time.
- Mr. Arun Anand from DLF Estate Development Agency
- Mr. Akash Ohri from DLF Golf Course
- Mr. Sudhir Kapoor from DLF City RWA
- Shabnamji (Yuvraj Singh's mother) - who feels strongly for the cause
- Mr, Yogesh Sharma from NBCC

Once again - thanks for your support.

Best regards,
Prabhat Agarwal

Dear Prabhat:

I congratulate you and your colleagues who have worked so hard and steadfastly on this issue and finally we have achieved something. This morning when I was going for a game of Golf, I did see that the srea was cordoned off and the dumps were being cleared from there by various trucks. Mohan and I thank you all and appreciate how much efforts you all have put into this  matter.

Best regards.

dear prabhat,THIS INDEED IS THE NEWS of the year.congrats to you fr having led the crusade many months back AND,more importantly,  sustained the effort right through.this case is indeed a grt example of how the community can get together solidly(incl coming on to the streets)and push thru the deplorably lethargic system that we are engulfed in.do sincerely hope we can repeat this effort elsewhere and address many more civic issues.our support from the CITY RWA shall continue in any/every form, rgds, sudhir kapoor

Hi Prabhat and all the members,

Congratulations to all who have headed this campaign, it is indeed a great achievement.

I have a suggestion, the site which has closed and although cordoned off, is still the most easy site for all the garbage to be dumped as the new site is quite far ahead. The people who go and throw the garbage on rickshaw and other slow moving transport will find it too difficult to go so far ahead so may try to throw the garbage as same site illegally.

Why dont we have a monitoring committee which can just randomly go any time as per their convenience and just keep a quick check if no dumping is being done.

Let me know how the members feel about it.

I am ready to volunteer in the first group and we can have 3 members on rotation basis for every month, I think if we monitor this for 4-6 months and if all is going ok, then maybe we can discontinue but initial monitoring will be good.

Will wait for your suggestions.

Regards
Pawan

Yes, this is good idea, people who drive past this area on regular basis, please just keep a close watch if any incursions are noticed and keep updating to all.

Dear Prabhat,

This is indeed very good news.

Just a couple of months the smell had got intolerable; and there were a anxiousness if anything would come out of the efforts.

Congratulations to you and all those who contributed, including those who braved the hot sun and small at various protests including the "foundation stone laying of kachra chowk".

There might be need for some vigilance ensure that to ensure that garbage is not dumped at this site or elsewhere close. I have noticed some dumping along the new sector road leading to Sikanderpur.

Without trying to make this look like a mutual admiration and backslapping society, one cannot add the greatest contributors to this cause.
They are the actual UNSUNG HEROES
ALL THE SENIOR CITIZENS WHO PARTICIPATED IN THE MOVEMENT

ESPECIALLY

Mrs & Mr Harish Capoor
& Mrs & Mr Kapadia

Dear all,
1. It is an achievement which was though destined to come with the efforts put in by all, sooner or later, is not the end. It will take efforts, even money to reclaim and restore the land to its original stature. Since it was an illegal dump, I doubt who is going to spend that money. This part I think has been missed out in our petition in High Court and should have figured in the relief claimed ( I am not sure though). Remain organised till the end.

Dear Friends,

DLF City News also complements the women behind the movement in addition to ourheroes-namely Ambika Aggarwal and Shabnam SIngh whom we have featured as DLF Divas in our columns and Latika too of iamgurgaon who have pursued the matter with additional moves like pocessing of vegetable and kitchen waste into compost. And not to forget Harish Kapoor who has tirelessly given his time and energy to make the city clean. Silver Oaks Condominium Association have a great role in making our environs clean.

Another challenge looms- managing the scarce water resource as brought out in the forthcoming issue of DCN.

Lastly may I request the friends of people to join Rakesh Khullar in making Gurgaon Roads cattle free as also deal with the pigs that loiter around our neighborhood. He has asked us to find volunteers for managing a pig sty with land allotted by Corporation.

Regards,

Col. Prithvi Nath

Dear Friends,
It is a fine achievement ( the Garbage Dump Removal) for which all participants can be happy about.
We are fortunate in having Mr. Rajesh Khullar as the Commissioner, MCG. He has also taken steps for taking care of the stray cows in Gugaon and this facility should start functioning by 1st January,2010. Hopefully, there will be no stray cow on the roads anywhere in Gurgaon in the new year. It will be a rare achievement for any town in India.

The problem of monkeys remains. It is no longer safe for people to even go for a walk. I am afraid I am not a great supporter of the 'langoor' solution even short term, to try and scare them away from some lanes in G Block. Do we want to merely pass on the problem to our neighbouring lanes/blocks ?
I believe Mr. Sudhir Kapoor of City RWA has recd. a meaningful proposal from an NGO which should be pursued on top priority.

With best wishes.
 Harish Capoor
