TWENTYNINE PALMS — This year’s spring community cleanup day Saturday drew 196 participants to the lot behind the Luckie Park Activity Center.

This is according to Eli Marshall, who organized the work for the city. Burrtec employees deployed to help residents move their trash from pickup trucks to trash tucks and roll-off dumpsters.

“We filled four front loaders with green waste, two 40-yard roll-offs with green waste, two 40-yard roll-offs with steel and appliances, one 40-yard roll-off with mattresses, approximately 60 pieces, and filled a truck and trailer with e-waste,” Marshall said.

“We also gave away 5 tons of compost and about 2,500 pounds of shredding.”

This year drew 65 more participants than last year, which Marshall attributed to better advertising and increased fees at the landfill.
