Aloha Parents!

We are just 14 days away from the big trip!  We have some great news: We are going to meet with Congresswoman Mazie Hirono for a photo op AND...we will be taking a tour of the White House!  Since we will be going straight from the airport to the White House, please make sure that your child packs his/her dress outfit IN THEIR CARRY-ON.  They may change at the airport, but we will not be stopping at the hotel before the tour.

Also, please make sure that they have their Smithsonian backpack (we handed them out today at the meeting) as they will be using it everyday in addition to their Smithsonian lanyard (we will hand these out at the airport).  They may use their Smithsonian backpack as one carry-on and bring a second (small) carry-on as well.

They should wear their black Civic Club shirt to the airport when we leave, have something green to wear on St. Patrick's Day, and their I Love New York shirt to wear when we go to New York.

Finally, I told the students today that they MUST bring their heavy/warm jacket/coat to school and show it to one of the advisors to make sure that it will be thick enough.  We do not want any of the students to be unprepared for the extreme cold (and possibly snowy) weather and risk getting sick. They have until Thursday, March 11th (day before we leave) to bring their jacket in.

I've revised the packing list, so please make sure to go over it with your child.

Aloha,
Cherilyn Inouye
