Hello everyone. I hope this e-mail is finding all of you well and not
too stressed out from this semester! I hate to say it, but we have some
bad news. ISU PRIDE will be postponing the conference to the spring
semester. We are incredibly sorry for the inconvenience, but it was the
best decision in order to have a successful conference so that you all
can get as much out of it as possible.
We based this decision on multiple factors. First, we have not heard
back from many of our workshop presenters yet, and we have already had
many presenters back out over the past couple of days. Second, I have
only heard from two schools about their estimated attendance, and it did
not seem to be a high enough number to make the conference productive.
Third, that is the day of the march for the Mathew Shepard Bill and well
feel that we may loose a large number of participants to that cause
(which, in our minds, is a perfectly good reason to not come to the
conference).
Though, from this we definitely have some good news. The date of the
conference has already been determined for next semester and that is
March 29th. This is also the date of PRIDE's 10th Annual Charity Drag
Show. We will most likely be hosting the conference on the same time
frame throughout the day (possibly push back the start time by an hour
or so), and we would then welcome anyone and everyone to join us at our
show that evening. The show is usually excellent with mostly title
holding performers, and we typically have an attendance of near 1000.
The tickets do cost a few bucks, but we would work on allowing
conference participants to have a discount.
Again, we are truly sorry about any inconvenience this may have caused
any of you, but we believe this is the best solution for everyone. If
you have any questions or concerns, please send me an e-mail and I will
get back to you as soon as I can! Thank you all so much for you support!
