BoykaUndisputed[1] (also known as Boyka: Undisputed 4),[3] is a 2017 American-Bulgarian martial arts film directed by Todor Chapkanov, and written by David White and Tony Mosher from a story by Boaz Davidson.[4] It is the sequel to Undisputed III: Redemption (2010), and the fourth installment overall in the Undisputed franchise. Scott Adkins reprises his role as Yuri Boyka.[4]

Several months after the events of the previous film, Yuri Boyka is now a free man and has a manager named Kiril. Boyka still fights in underground matches in Kyiv, Ukraine. In a match, Boyka accidentally kills his opponent Viktor and begins to regret and thinks about what he is fighting for. After discovering Viktor has a wife named Alma, Boyka tells Kiril to make a fake passport and goes to Russia to meet Alma. In the Russian town of Drovny, Boyka finds out that Alma owes money to a crime boss named Zourab. Alma lives in a community center and serves as a waitress in Zourab's underground fighting club.

Zourab is now searching for a good martial artist to fight in his club. Boyka wants to help Alma pay her debt so he makes a deal with Zourab that he will fight for him in exchange for Alma's freedom. Zourab agrees and suggests Boyka to fight in three matches. Alma invites Boyka to the training room in the community center for his training. Boyka easily defeats his opponent in the first match and then must fight two brothers in the second match, where he defeats them by double knockout. In the community center, Boyka asks Alma why she does not leave the town. Alma tells that she cannot leave the children and the center as the children could become gangsters or bad guys.

In the third match, Boyka defeats Igor Kazmir, who is the elite henchman of Zourab. Boyka is about to leave, but Zourab forces him to fight one more match to defeat his true champion. Boyka reluctantly agrees. Zourab bribes a high-ranking police officer to bring Koshmar to his club. Koshmar is a giant, furious and relentless martial artist. Zourab thinks Boyka cannot defeat Koshmar as he has a large and strong body. After some intense moments, Boyka breaks one arm and one leg of Koshmar and finally kicks him out of the ring, knocking him unconscious.

Enraged, Zourab takes Alma as a hostage and orders his henchmen to kill Boyka, but Boyka kills all of Zourab's henchmen and chases after him. Boyka gets shot, but he grabs Zourab and chokes him to death. An injured Boyka asks Alma if she can forgive him for what he did to Viktor and is arrested by the police. Six months later, Alma visits Boyka in prison and tells that she finally forgives him. Boyka continues fighting in the prison to pursue the title of most complete martial artist in the world.

The film was previously known under the working title Undisputed IV.[5] Isaac Florentine (who had helmed the second and third installments) was slated to direct this one as well, but ultimately opted to pass on the directing gig in order to tend to his ill wife, although he remained involved as a producer.[6][7] The job went to Todor Chapkanov, who had performed second unit duties on Nu Image's major production London Has Fallen just prior.[8] After J.J. Perry in Undisputed 2 and Larnell Stovall in Undisputed III, the series enlisted a new fight choreographer again, although Tim Mann had already collaborated with Adkins on Nu Image's Ninja: Shadow of a Tear.[9]

Israeli actor Alon Moni Aboutboul, who was the primary antagonist in London Has Fallen, plays mob boss and main villain Zourab.[9] Boyka: Undisputed marked the feature debut of British bodybuilder Martyn Ford, who is billed at 6 ft 8 in and 325 lb.[10] His character's name, Koshmar, is Russian for "Nightmare", which became his real-life nickname in the wake of the film's release.[11][12]

Principal photography took place in Bulgaria at Nu Boyana Film Studios. It was scheduled to commence on June 29, 2015, and concluded on July 31.[13][14] On November 10, 2015, it was announced that the film had completed post-production.[5] It is dedicated to veteran Nu Image producer Danny Lerner, who passed away during pre-production.[10]

You have to look at becoming Undisputed as an achievment. You are not going to be able to hold on to all those titles if you want to make defenses regularly. Like TartanTornado says a challenger needs to be ranked within the top 2 for WBC, top 3 for WBA, top 5 for IBF and top 7 for WBO.

However, prior to that we think it makes sense to have a wide-ranged review of world title functionality. This includes mandatories and voluntary defence rules, frequency of Undisputed champs appearing, ranking qualifications, vacancies/relinquishing and eliminators.

One of the things we love most about making this game is that boxing as a sporting business is unique in having no formal rules as to how it works. On one hand this makes it very difficult to work with and on another gives total freedom to us to decide.

We think in the case of world titles in particular that the way the game world has exponentially developed over the past 12 months (all world titles, the fourth belt) it is increasingly clear that the logic and rules that we have previously used to run the title engine is needs to update in order for better gameplay in these increasingly bigger game worlds and ever increasing amounts of belts and complexity.

Perhaps unifications need more tied in with box office and stats. ie a fellow champ will be less likely to fight you if your box office is low and your stats are high. Risk/reward etc. Just a thought.

Alma is first seen in the film mourning for the loss of her husband where she suddenly met Zourab who offers her a job to repay her husband's debt to him to which Alma accepts. She then works at Zourab's fighting club as a waitress. In the morning, when in the community center, Alma was met with Boyka and after learning that Boyka accidentally killed Viktor, Alma berates Boyka and orders him to get out of the building.

When Alma heard that Boyka had an agreement with Zourab in fighting for her freedom, she confronts Boyka tells him that she don't want his help but Boyka tells her that it's the least that he can do to her. Their conversation ended shortly when Zourab's guard picked her up for work. In the night, Alma watches Boyka's match and after the fight ended, she was ordered by Zourab to offer him a drink and when Boyka asks her if there is another place for him to train, Alma offers him to come to the community center where he could practice his fight for the upcoming matches.

When Boyka was fighting two fighters in his second match, he was suddenly injured in his lower back but he manages to win the fight thereafter. Boyka trains in the community center in the night when Alma came to offer him an ointment for his back. She offers Boyka a massage and converse with him shortly which didn't end really well.

After Zourab learns about Boyka's whereabouts in the community center, He rushes to Alma and begins to forcefully ask her if she had some sort of intimate relationship with Boyka but she responds furiously stating how much she love Viktor Zourab then pushes Alma in a table and stormed out in the community center threatening her to kill Boyka if he ever comes to train in the community center again.

Shortly before Boyka's supposed final match, she went to Boyka's apartment to ask him about what really happened between his fight with Viktor. Boyka admits that he did not see Viktor as a husband or an honorable opponent, but a man who stands between his dream stating that he aims to seriously beat Viktor but he never intends to kill him which led to Boyka's regret. Confused with grief and rage, Alma went out of the building in sorrow.

Several hours later, Alma was seen watching Boyka's third fight with Igor Kazimir where she showed some degree of support to Boyka. The match ends well when Boyka defeats Igor even with an injured back, when the fight ends, Alma smiles and tries to left the building but she was stopped by Zourab when he makes a new agreement to Boyka to fight his champion. Without a choice, Boyka accepts the offer and fought Koshmar in the final match. Alma was brought to Zourab's quarters to watch as Boyka was badly beaten by his opponent where she showed some concern to him Boyka, on the other hand, adapted to Koshmar's abilities using his speed and experience against him. In result, Boyka wins the fight and sends Koshmar out of the ring.

Feeling agitated, Zourab doesn't honor Boyka's agreement and proceeds to take Alma sends his guard to beat Boyka to a pulp but Boyka manages to get back and killed many of his men. When Boyka found Alma being taken hostage by Zourab, he demands to let her go but the hard headed Zourab demands to put the gun down, which Boyka agrees just as Zourab was about to shoot him.

Alma proceeds to bite Zourab's hand which gives Boyka a chance to kill him. After Zourab was killed the seriously injured Boyka tells Alma to forgive him for her husband's death but Alma does not respond. Boyka was arrested shortly and was sent to his former prison.

6 months after the incident, Alma visits Boyka in his prison, she talks to him about the community center's progress. Alma was last seen being thanked by Boyka after she finally forgives Boyka of her husband's accidental death.
