Through an installation made up of artesian clay tiles, Chilean design research firm BASE studio (Bárbara Barreda + Felipe Sepúlveda) explores the relationship between past and present, techniques and technology, and analog and digital. Flocking Tejas highlights the interaction between old and new as an opportunity to create more inclusive architecture that takes into account the complex history, traditions, aspirations and perspectives of communities and their residents. It's an opportunity to explore the balance between tradition and technological advancement.
BASE is a Chilean studio dedicated to architectural design and the exploration of geometric formulas, materials, and unconventional spaces, all the while maintaining a systemic focus and combining the the potential of digital design tools will low-tech, analogous processes.
I'll teach an "avanced" R course for my doctoral school in a month now.
I want to dedicate at least one session (out of 9 or 10) to base R.
Obviously, a part will be about the different accessors.
Yet, I also want to present some useful R base functions. Note that I don't want to talk about functions like subset or transform because we will use dplyr instead for this kind of operations.
Yet, I remember the first time I discovered the match function, I found it very useful and now use it very often. There are some other functions like this one that deserve to be known, for example sub, cut, split, outer..
A complete list of R base functions is available there.
If you teach an advanced course on R, what do you mean? An advanced data mangling course, or an advanced programming course? Because when giving an advanced programming course, I expect my students to know the most common base functions already, so I can explain them about:
Code like this may easily be used for creating statistical tables to be published, e.g. when categorising age into integer-based bins. The resulting tables will be plainly wrong. Of course, typically you will manually choose the break points. But even here, cut() gets the placement for the number 23 wrong. Try setting breaks=c(20,23,25). No matter what value you set dig.lab to, 23 is put in the (23, 25] bin instead of in the (20, 23] bin in which it mathematically belongs.
Do you have some experience ? The algorithm to calculate the result must be different if I use the virtual rinex?
This is the comment present in the virtual rinex

Vernon and his brother Nate purchased the property, just miles from their childhood home and once a veterinary clinic, for around $250,000 in 2008, according to The New York Times. The two immediately set about renovating the space into a working studio, drafting friends like Group of the Altos leader Daniel Spack to assist in the construction.
When Vernon launched an extensive tour with Bon Iver early in the summer of 2011, he easily could have chosen to lock up the studio, keeping the space solely to himself. Instead, he threw open the doors, giving all sorts of friends and loose acquaintances access to the world-class facilities.
The video section also provides self-help video and photography cameras as well as projectors and screens for official base documentation. All video support must be requested using the AF Form 833 and request should be sent to: 55WG.PA.Comma...@us.af.mil. For more information, call (402) 294-3744.
During peak construction, Netflix estimates the project will contribute as many as 3,500 jobs. Once the studio is fully operational, it estimates that Netflix production could contribute between 1,400 and 2,200 jobs annually.
In April 2021, Murphy wrote a letter to major Hollywood studios like Disney, Warner Bros., and Netflix in an attempt to lure them away from Georgia after a fight over changes in voter registration laws there.
There's still a long road ahead before the streaming giant physically builds studios at the old fort. Netflix has a 36-month window to complete its due diligence on the site and acquire local approvals before closing on the property.

Netflix is bringing Hollywood to New Jersey. The streaming giant just closed a $55 million deal to buy the former site of Fort Monmouth Army base. The company plans to build an $850 million studio on 300 acres encompassing portions of Eatontown and Oceanport.
In doing so, Netflix said it will invest upwards of $850 million to create one of the largest production facilities in the world, one with 12 sound stages, ancillary production spaces and back lots, similar in size and scope to its New Mexico studios. It will use the studios to produce high quality TV series and films, including originals. Production will also occasionally go on location at scenic backdrops around the state.
"We believe a Netflix studio can boost the local and state economy with thousands of new jobs and billions in economic output," Sarandos said, "while sparking a vibrant production ecosystem in New Jersey."
