Dear Melike Aktas,
I am glad to hear that your students want to come to study in Latvia. Application to the studies at the Latvian Academy of Culture for the Erasmus students for the studies in the autumn term: till 1 July. More information (also about courses and EILC courses as well as the accommodation) and the Application form they can find on the web-site: http://www.lka.edu.lv/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=index&topic=189
Taking in consideration that your students are from non-EU country they will need a visa for Latvia. In order to receive visa they will need official invitation, which our Academy has to get for you at the Immigration Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In order to apply for this invitation we need from the students the following documents (obligatory already in May!):
- copies of student`s passports (scan the page with photo)
- their official addresses in Turkey;
- dates and places of birth;
- copies of insurance policies (but please inform the students do not take very expensive policies because they have to buy another one in Latvia specially for the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs (I do not why and I think it is some daylight robbery)).
Students have to send all of the mentioned above to my e-mail address. Please note that the whole procedure is pretty complicated and takes a lot of time, that is why we would need to have from you the above mentioned information and photocopies of documents as soon as possible.
Once they receive visas and arrive in Latvia they will need to get the Residence permit, which is obtainable here in Riga. For that they will need to bring with them from Turkey the following documents:
- a statement on punishability issued by a competent institution of the citizenship (I do not know exactly which state organ is responsible for such things in Turkey) that they have no criminal records (with an Apostil (Appostille));
- a statement on fluorography or x-ray examining results;
- a document confirming the necessary subsistence (in this case it is the Erasmus grant and a reference can be from the Ankara University);
- a reference from the Ankara University that the student (name/surname) will study at the LAC from.... till.... in the Erasmus programme framework;
- a photography.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or requirements.
With kind regards,
Ilze Beimane
