Hey coaches!

I'm working on the March ICCA Newsletter, but it'll likely be delayed a bit this year, sorry!!

In the meantime, I wanted to shoot over some important reminders before your chess season comes to a close...
  • IHSA Advisory Committee - This is the group that determines the rules, terms, and conditions for the IHSA Tournament and rulebook.  Be sure to send your notes about the IHSA Sectional and State events as well as any thoughts/comments/ideas/corrections about the rulebook to your committee rep.  They're scheduled to meet on Friday, March 20th - https://www.ihsa.org/sports/chess/advisory-committee
  • IESA Advisory Committee - This is the group that determines the rules, terms, and conditions for the IESA Tournament and rulebook.  Be sure to send your notes about the IESA State event as well as any thoughts/comments/ideas/corrections about the rulebook to your committee rep.  They're scheduled to meet on March 26th - https://www.iesa.org/administration/advisory/members.asp?CommitteeCode=CHS
And...  of course, some upcoming tournaments you should notice! (all found on the ICCA Schedule)
  • Saturday, March 14th - National HS (K-12) Warm-Up - This event is designed to help your players get used to the longer time controls of the HS Nationals event at the end of March.  Run at Benet Academy, it's a short drive for most suburban players!
  • Saturday, March 21st - GBS Blitz & Bughouse Tournament - This fun event is run by coach Al McWilliams with a ton of fun for everyone.  Hosted in Glen Ellyn, it's also a short drive for most suburban scholastic players!
  • March 27-29 - USCF High School Nationals - This is the US Chess High School National Championship, held in downtown Chicago at the Sheraton Grand Riverwalk this year.  Don't miss out on your opportunity to play against players from all over the country!  Check out the ICCA Nationals page for help answering most of your questions.

That's it for now, y'all.  See you soon over the boards!
