Congrats on an amazing tournament!  This one was incredibly memorable both on the chess boards and throughout the event.  Below are some quick updates, and I'm hoping to actually get a March newsletter out this year, we'll see what I can do...  Thanks everyone, and if I don't see you at the USAT tournament next weekend of the IESA tournament the weekend after that, maybe it'll be the Illinois K-8 in March?  Or not until next October.  No matter what, this is a fantastic, memorable season.  Congrats to everyone.

Also, the ICCA Team Data Sheet has been updated to reflect this year's results.  If you catch any mistakes, please let me know!  Of interest to several coaches, we keep track of the final position of teams, their initial seed number, and the change in placement.  Also, the IHSA 2010-present tab has those results as far back as we have records, including a few averages of the results.  Take a look!

Congratulations to the Mike Zacate Individual Award winners!

Coach Glenn Panner (of multiple teams and Chess Weekend) has given out most of the awards at the tournament, but please check the list for accuracy  If I've left anyone out, please shoot me an e-mail and I'll get it corrected ASAP!  You can find the list of individual award winners at the bottom of the ICCA Division Awards page.

Congrats to the 2024 -2027 ICCA Officers: Dylan Canavan, Chris Aderhold, Sal Velasco, and Erik Czerwin.  We'll be meeting in the next few weeks to discuss initiatives and the direction of the ICCA for the next 3 years.  If you have anything you'd like us to consider, please e-mail me!

The IHSA Advisory Committee will be meeting sometime in late March.  Contact your representative if you'd like them to consider rule changes or improvements to the IHSA Sectionals and State Final event.  Those representatives are our voice in the process so be sure to reach out to your rep with your thoughts!  

Finally, I'll be adding things to the History and Mike Zacate pages continuously as I have time.  I hope everyone had a chance to browse the table of memorabilia and meet to chat with Betsy.  That made this year really special.  If you have anything that should be added to those webpages, please feel free to reach out.  The first 50 years are well worth preserving as we forge ahead into the next 50 years!
