Chess Coaches,

Welcome back from Winter Break!  Looking at the weather, it looks like many of you might have an extra day of break, Thanks Mother Nature!  Enjoy shoveling the snow while the rest of us dodge icy roads...

My apologies for delays in posting results and processing e-mails!  Our family has been very focused on the holidays, and I had to put aside the computer for a few weeks.  I'm back at it, and I'll try to get everything caught up by mid-week.

No newsletter in this e-mail, I'm hoping to get that out next week.  If you think of anything you'd like to add to the newsletter or like to see, shoot me an e-mail!  Tom Doan has written up something great to share about his mathematical model for ranking teams, which is a piece of the puzzle that the seeding committee will be looking at this year in addition to all the normal data.

Several new tournaments have been added to the schedule this year, including this upcoming Saturday, January 11th!  Check out the Tournament Schedule for all the updates.

The weekends of January 18th and 25th are key events.  Most conferences run a conference tournament at the end of the season, so look for all those results to roll in.  Speaking of which, Conference reps, it would be a great help if you could shoot me a link or a list of the W-L-D record of teams to include on the ICCA Team Data Sheet.

Finally, IHSA Sectionals fall on Saturday, February 1st this year.  Make sure you and your AD are keeping up with the deadlines for entering rosters, lineups, etc. in the IHSA Schools Center.  Coaches will have to have completed their tasks soon as well, so be sure to set aside some time to get that done!

Ok, that's enough of an update.  Happy January.  This chess season is shaping up to be one of the most competitive in recent history.  January and February competitions are the time to really dial in and see who rises to the top.  Good luck to everyone, and as always, if you need any support, reach out any time!
