to IBET - Illinois Birders Exchanging Thoughts
Hello Bird People,
Computer went down last night but its back today so here is my report
for Sunday
Nippersink Marsh (7:30-9 a.m.)
Went here looking for the Willets seen on Saturday but didn't find
them even with the help of such ace birders as Beau S & Suzy & Graham
D. Guess I used up all my luck on Saturday with the Black Necked
Stilts & the Wilson's Phalaropes.
Great Blue Heron (8) & Great Egret (2)
Canada Goose (15) & Mallard (2)
Killdeer (7), Spotted (3) & Least (3) Sandpipers
BALD EAGLE (1-AD) & Red Tailed Hawk (1)
Plus 14 landbird species of the usual suspects.
Rollins Savannah (north end observation area only) (9:30-10:30 a.m.)
D.C. Cormorant (1)
Great Blue Heron (1) & Great Egret (1)
Mallard (2-AD with 5 young ones)
RING NECKED DUCK (1 adult male, kind of a surprise!)
Caspian Tern (2 on the far away mudflat)
Plus 10 more common landbird species.
So 32 species for the day & Bird-Of-The-Day will be the lingering
adult male Ring Necked Duck
& Runner-Up will be the adult Bald Eagle.
