Hello Bird People,
Spent most of my time today watching for a Yellow Crowned Night Heron
at the feeding area at River Park & also did a short walk in the
heavily vegetated area of Ronan Park. Did not find any Yellow Crowned
Night Herons at either place.
River Park (7:30-9:15 am)
D.C. Cormorant (2)
Great Blue Heron (2)
Black Crowned Night Heron (11 & more flying by)
Canada Goose (4-AD & 7 young)
Wood Duck (1-F with 6 young)
Mallard (6-AD & 22 young)
(One very large domestic Mallard)
Ring Billed Gull (1 fly-by)
Rock Pigeon (6 fly-bys)
Chimney Swift (2)
Kingfisher (1)
Crow (2)
Robin (4)
Yellow Warbler (H-1)
Common Yellowthroat (H-1)
Song Sparrow (2)
Red Wings (4)
Grackles (10)
House Sparrow (12)
(And heard from Ronan Park were Red Bellied Woodpecker & Warbling
Vireo, one each)
So 20 species at the 2 parks plus roadside Mourning Doves for a day's
total of 21.
Bird-Of-The-Day to all those Black Crowned Night Herons & Runners-Up
to the Chimney Swifts & the Kingfisher.
