to IBET - Illinois Birders Exchanging Thoughts
Hello Bird People,
Ryan J saw 2 Buff Breasted Sandpipers here yesterday & that was enough
to make me try to find them again. But I did not find them nor was my
species list anywhere as good as Ryan's. No surprise there as I am not
nearly as good as he is at finding stuff. But I did see 2 Wild
Turkeys, one Baird's Sandpiper & a big flock of White Pelicans so that
made it somewhat interesting.
Heidecke Lake Berms (8:45-noon)
WHITE PELICAN (~125)
D.C. Cormorant (2)
Great Blue Heron (4)
Canada Goose (9 in the water & 13 fly-bys)
Mallard (3)
WILD TURKEY (2, roadsides)
Killdeer (2)
Spotted Sandpiper (3)
Semipalmated Sandpiper (6)
BAIRD'S SANDPIPER (1)
Ring Billed (~45) & Herring (2) Gulls
Turkey Vulture (6)
Mourning Dove 3)
Red Headed Woodpecker (H-1)
Tree (2), Bank (8), Rough Winged (5) & Barn (6) Swallows
Swallow Species (40)
Blue Jay (H-1)
Catbird (H-1)
Warbling Vireo (H-1)
So 22 species at the lake plus roadside Pigeons for a day's total of 23.
With no Buffies seen by me Bird-Of-The-Day will be the Wild Turkeys &
Runners-Up
will be all those Pelicans & the Baird's Sandpiper. I had a lot of
birds to look at.
