To add to all the good information that has already been shared about Techny- the highest priority for MWRD is to mow the grass so that it does not clog up the drains. The primary purpose of those basins is to hold stormwater and then release it through drains once the river levels fall a bit. It’s a great thing that it also provides bird habitat as well as harbors some prairie plants but it requires some delicate balancing and some compromise to meet three sets of needs.
