Hello Bird People,

Spent most of my time here on the beach where the wind was very hard &
made it difficult to view the birds. Although it was a no swimming day
there were still a few folks in the water plus 3 windsurfers, 5
regular surfers & 2 metal detector guys, typical for a windy day.

Montrose Beach (6-8:30 am)

Canada Goose (17)
Mallard (2)
Killdeer (3)
Semipalmated Plover (1)
PIPING PLOVER (2 together & maybe another toward the dog beach)
(One was Frankie & one was from Michigan)
Sanderling (9)
Least Sandpiper (1)
Semipalmated Sandpiper (1)
Ring Billed (274) & Herring (14) Gulls
Purple Martin (5) & Barn Swallow (2)

Hedge Area (8:30-9:30 am)

Ruby Throated Hummer (1)
Flicker (1)
Chickadee (2)
House Wren (1, still singing constantly)
Blue Gray Gnatcatcher (1)
Robin (8)
Starling (6)
Warbling Vireo (1)
Cardinal (2)
Red Wings (8)
Grackle (2)
House Sparrow (12)

So 24 species at Montrose plus one roadside addition for a day's total of 25.
Bird-Of-The-Day will be the Piping Plovers & Runner-Up will be the Hummingbird.

License Plate Of The Day goes to one from Wash D.C. seen on Sheridan Road.
