Greetings,

Yesterday, Sunday, I scored a western kingbird @ Libertyville prairie, I know the species was in the same location in 2025. What is the history of the site for this species? I find it fascinating to contemplate the “same” bird returning annually!

It appears I got a "reply" on e-bird, the dude must've read my mind !

"Heard it calling from the electric substation numerous times, saw it flying across the prairie very briefly as it was being chased by a male RWBB. Bird has been present here for 2.5 weeks. It is the fourth year in a row one has been seen in this location, though the length of stay has varied. Gray above, yellow below, wide black tail.
No strong evidence of nesting, but it appears territorial, frequently chasing other birds (and being chased by them)."
