Hello Bird People,
Went to Montrose yesterday & didn't find the Burrowing Owl for Bob E &
I did not find a Vesper Sparrow. So we tried again & again we found
neither. But there were birds to look at & yesterday I had 39 species

species were new today. Here's my list:

Ring Billed (40) & Herring (4) Gulls
Caspian Tern (2, on the beach)
Rock Pigeon (3) & Mourning Dove (2)
Yellow Bellied Sapsucker (2)
Downy Woodpecker (1-M & 1-F)
Flicker (6)
Eastern Phoebe (3)
Tree Swallow (4)
Crow (2) & Chickadee (3)
Brown Creeper (2)
Ruby Crowned (3) & Golden Crowned (4) Kinglets

Starling (11)
Cardinal (5)
SAVANNAH SPARROW (1) (FOY)
Song Sparrow (12)
Fox Sparrow (4)
Swamp Sparrow (3)
White Throated Sparrow (2)
White Crowned Sparrow (1-AD)
Junco (10-12)
Eastern Towhee (2-M)
Eastern Meadowlark (1)
Red Wings (15) & Grackles (20)
House Sparrow (~25)
Then to Axehead Lake where I added Common Loon (5), Pied Billed Grebe (5) &
Lesser Scaup to my day list giving me 41 species for the day.
Nothing really special was seen today so Bird-Of-The-Day will be my
only new "year bird" which was the Savannah Sparrow. Runner-Up will be
the Common Loons, the Thrashers & the Towhees.
