Hello Bird People,
Went to Montrose to see the group of Stilt Sandpipers reported today
but they were already gone before the rain stopped & I arrived. But
there were lots of other shorebirds to look at on the public beach.
Only checked the beach area.
Montrose Beach (10:30-11:30 am)
D.C. Cormorant (3)
Great Blue Heron (1 fly-by)
Canada Goose (62, on the beach)
Mallard (2)
Lesser Scaup (2, off the beach)
Killdeer (2)
Piping Plover (1)
Semipalmated Plover (22, a high count)
Spotted Sandpiper (2)
RUDDY TURNSTONE (5, together)
Semipalmated Sandpiper (18)
Sanderling (2)
Dunlin (19)
Ring Billed (42) & Herring (3) Gulls
Caspian Tern (7)
Purple Martin (2, beach)
Rough Winged (6), Bank (~20) & Barn (2) Swallows
Robin (3)
Warbling Vireo (H-1)
Yellow Warbler (H-1)
Red Wings (4) & Grackles (2)
House Sparrow (6)
Stopped at Techny North but the morning rain has flooded this place &
no mudflats remain.
Give it a few days before visiting.
So only 28 species today including roadside Crows & Pigeons.
Bird-Of-The-Day will be the Ruddy Turnstones & Runners-Up will be the
one Piping Plover & the 19 Dunlin.
