Hello Bird People,

I have to cut this short so we'll just cover water related birds today.

Waukegan Beach (6:15-7:15 am)

D.C. Cormorant (6 fly-bys)
Canada Goose (58)
Spotted Sandpiper (1, pier)
Sanderling (2, pier)
Ring Billed (~140) & Herring (35) Gulls
Caspian Tern (1, on the beach)
Barn Swallows (8)

North Point Marina (7:35-7:55 am)

D.C. Cormorant (4)
Great Blue Heron (1 fly-by)
Sandhill Crane (2-AD & 1 large young one)
Killdeer (2)
Ring Billed & Herring Gulls (No counts)

Illinois Beach North-Sand Pond Road Beach (8:15-9:30 am)

Here Bob E & I were joined by Andy Stewart & Eric Johnson.

D.C. Cormorant (~50 fly-bys)
Canada Goose (only 1)
Red Breasted Merganser (1)
Killdeer (4)
Semipalmated Plover (2, seen by the others & heard by me)
PIPING PLOVER (1, appeared to be Buddy from Montrose)
Greater Yellowlegs (2)
Spotted (2). Least (3) & Semipalmated (1) Sandpipers
Ring Billed & Herring Gulls (No counts)
Caspian Tern (1 fly-by)
Kingfisher (1-M)

Techny North (12:15-12:45 pm)

D.C. Cormorant (1)
Great Blue Heron (1) & Great Egret (1)
Mallard (2)
Killdeer (5) & Spotted Sandpiper (also 5)
Caspian Tern (1, hunting)
Kestrel (1)

So 41 species today at my 4 locations plus roadside Pigeons for a
day's total of 42.
First time I've had over 40 species in a day in quite a while.
Bird-Of-The-Day will be the two Greater Yellowlegs as they were the
1st seen by me since Spring. Runners-Up to the Crane family & Buddy
the Piping Plover.
Mammal of the Day will be a well seen Mink seen on the rocks off Sand
Pond Rd Beach & found by Eric J.
