Running late so we'll just do highlights today
Waukegan Beach (6:45-7:45 am)
Great Blue Heron (5, just standing on the north beach)
Shorebirds were Killdeer (2), BLACK BELLIED PLOVER (2), Spotted
Sandpiper (2), Sanderling (7), RUDDY TURNSTONE (1) & Short Billed
Dowitcher (2-3)
Ring Billed & Herring Gulls & Common Tern (3)
Illinois Beach South Park Office Deck (8:10-8:25 am)
Red Breasted Merganser (1-M)
Caspian Tern (2)
Common/Forster's Tern (total 55)
State Line Beach (8:50-10 am)
FRANKLIN'S GULL (2-AD, with the pink chest)
Ring Billed & Herring Gulls (many)
Caspian Tern (12)
Common/Forster's Terns (Total 207)
Illinois Beach North Unit (10:20-11:30 am)
D.C. Cormorant (~90, on the rocks off the beach)
Caspian (6) & Common (10) Terns
Semipalmated Plover (2)
SANDHILL CRANE (2-AD with one tiny young)
Techny North (11:15-11:40 am)
Shorebirds were Killdeer (2), Solitary (1) & Spotted (6) Sandpiper
Least (9) & Semipalmated (22) Sandpipers
WHITE RUMPED SANDPIPER (continuing)
So 44 species for the day & Bird-Of-The-Day will be a tie between the
Franklin's Gulls with the pink chests & the beautiful Black Bellied
Plovers. Runner-Up to the tiny baby Crane.
