All I covered here today was the East Pond & the West (Main) Pond but
my view of the West Pond was limited by the tall vegetation which
blocked the water. Others just walk in on the trail but I can't get in
there with my wheelchair/walker. So I am at a disadvantage at this
location. Also the water remains high & shorebirds are lacking.
East Pond (9:30-10:15 am)
P.B. Grebe (1-AD)
Great Egret (1)
COMMON GALLINULE (2-AD & 2 BABIES)
Marsh Wren (2-3)
West Pond (10:30-10:50 am)
P.B. Grebe (2)
Green Heron (1)
Sora (1 or 2)
Kingfisher (1-M)
Other Birds
Turkey Vulture (1 fly-by)
Mourning Dove (2)
Blue Jay (H-1)
Crow (3)
Sedge Wren (2 seen & 4 more heard)
Catbird (H-1)
Savannah Sparrow (2)
Song Sparrow (3)
Goldfinch (6)
I should mention that another birder did see D.C.Cormorants, a Great
Blue Heron, a Coot, Killdeer & a Solitary Sandpiper as she could
access the West Pond better than I could.
So only 16 species for me plus 3 roadside additions for a day's total
of 19 species.
Bird-Of-The-Day to the Gallinule family & Runners-Up to the Marsh &
Sedge Wrens who were about the only birds still singing.
