Hello Bird People,
Don't much like birding in the rain so I just checked out 3 small
local lakes from the car or from a shelter near to the car.
Axehead Lake (9:20-9:40 a.m.)
Common Loon (up to 4 today with 3 of the 4 in breeding plumage)
D.C. Cormorant (2, but later they flew away)
Mallard (2-M)
Rock Pigeon (11)
Robin (3)
Starling (1)
Cardinal (H-1)
Red Wing (H-1)
Lake Opeka (10:20-10:40 a.m.)
Horned Grebe (1)
P.B. Grebe (also 1)
Canada Goose (3)
Mallard (9)
Ring Necked Duck (1-PR)
Bufflehead (2-PR)
Common (1-F) & Red Breasted (1-F) Mergansers
Ruddy Duck (1-M & 2-F)
Ring Billed (6) & Herring (1) Gulls
Robin (4), Cardinal (1) & House Sparrow (6)
Beck Lake (11-11:20 a.m.)
P.B. Grebe (2)
Great Blue Heron (1)
Canada Goose (29)
Red Breasted Merganser (3)
Coot (1)
Flicker (H-1)
Tree Swallow (10)
Blue Jay (2)
Red Wings (3) & Grackles (10)
So only 25 species for this rainy day. Bird-Of-The-Day to the Common
Loons who are enjoying all the stocked fish at Axehead Lake.
Runners-Up to both Grebes & the Cormorants.
