to IBET - Illinois Birders Exchanging Thoughts
Hello Bird People,
Been pretty busy lately so just a short report for Friday.
Went with Bob Erickson & started at Waukegan Beach but didn't see much.
Shorebirds were only Sanderlings (4) & Semipalmated Sandpipers (2).
Also the usual Cormorants & Ring Billed & Herring Gulls. Saw 1 Red
Tailed Hawk on a post.
Illinois Beach South Unit (8-10 a.m.)
D.C. Cormorant (1 fly-by)
Great Egret (1, roadside pond)
Red Headed Woodpecker (1-IM) & Flicker (1)
Eastern Pewee (2), Least Flycatcher (1) & Eastern Phoebe (1)
Blue Jay (2), Chickadee (2), W.B. Nuthatch (2) & House Wren (1)
Swainson's Thrush (2) & Robins (4)
Warbling Vireo (1) & PHILADELPHIA VIREO (1)
Chestnut Sided (1) & Black & White (2) Warblers
CONNECTICUT WARBLER (1, best seen & identified by Bob while I barely saw it)
Field Sparrow (3) & Song Sparrow (1)
Goldfinch (4)
I should mention that Andy & Eric were here longer & saw 18 species of
warblers & the
Scissor Tailed Flycatcher but we sure didn't.
Illinois Beach North Hawk Watch Ponds
Nothing at all in the south pond & only Killdeer (2) & a Semipalmated
Plover in the north pond.
Bird-Of-The-Day for me will be the Philly Vireo while for Bob it will
be the Connecticut Warbler.
