While driving by a frozen Sedge Meadow FP, I noticed big white lumps on the ice so went back and managed to get a couple videos of the Tundra Swans before they flew away to the South, probably to find some open water and maybe even to Independence Grove where the lake was completely open which had a good number of waterfowl (see ebird for details) and where I had just came from and where even the Beavers knew better than to be out on this cold windy early morning. This afternoon at Illinois Beach SP, north unit which a big part of has been burned, a small flock of Hooded and Red-breasted Mergansers were on Sand Lake while a male Northern Harrier flew south in the background hunting over a burned area.
