Hi all,
With many thanks to all who have participated in, or contributed to, the Illinois Spring Bird Count in Cook County over the years, and a special thank you for Winnie Wu of Chicago Bird Alliance, much information for Cook County results are now available on the CBA website.
The main link to all of this information is here (under 'Conservation' in the main choices if you just go to the main CBA site first):
There is much information under that link.
The three 'main links' are:
- for the 2026 Cook County Spring Bird Count species list (199 species reported), and the list of those who participated and contributed data towards it:
- general totals of numbers of species reported, participants, hours and miles etc for each year of Cook Co. SBC from 2013 through 2026. Including wonderful graphs of each thanks to Winnie:
- an Excel type chart listing ALL of the species reported from 2013 to 2026, and how many of each were reported each year (again, a BIG thank you to Winnie for updating this years, and past years, information):
And below that there are links to part summaries and charts for individual years, 2018 through the present.
But the CBA website is for mainly those interested in details for Cook County Spring Bird Count recent years.
I hope the above is both useful and interesting for both all who took part, and hopefully for a few researchers into local bird numbers and changes.
Again, thank you to all who took part this year, and prior years (especially the many birders who have contributed year after year in their local hotspots!
Sincerely,
Alan
