to IBET - Illinois Birders Exchanging Thoughts
Hello Bird People,
Day three of my go early & beat the heat program. At Techny North I
had over 100 shorebirds but almost all were Killdeer & Least
Sandpipers. But best of all I had no Ticks to remove at least so far.
Air Station Prairie's two small ponds have dried up with very few
common shorebirds remaining.

D.C. Cormorant (2)
Great Blue Heron (3)
Great Egret (also 3)
Mallard (3-AD & 15 young)
Killdeer (31)
Lesser Yellowlegs (10)
Solitary Sandpiper (3)
Spotted Sandpiper (8)
Least Sandpiper (47)

Robin (1) & Starling (1)

Air Station Prairie (8:55-10:10 am)

And 7 common Summer birds including 2 Indigo Buntings.
So 26 species at my two locations plus 1 roadside addition for a day's

Bird-Of-The-Day will be my 1st Semipalmated Sandpiper of the season &
Runners-Up will be the Lesser Yellowlegs, the young Caspian Tern & the
Indigo Buntings.
